Location Description
Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.
Responsibilities
- Operate 1-3 houses.
- Keep houses clean.
- Ensure chickens have proper water, feed, temperatures, and that houses are clean and maintained.
- Maintain daily charts on water, temperatures, and maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with supervisor and maintenance team.
- Keep all feed chains operational at all times.
- Replace burned-out light bulbs.
- Maintain cleanliness of catwalks and manure pits.
- Keep fans, screens, and motors clean and protected with shields.
- Remove and count all dead chickens daily.
- Assist with manure operations if required.
- Operate manure equipment (GG1).
- Report major maintenance issues immediately to the supervisor.
- Follow safe work practices, GMPs, maintain sanitation, and ensure product quality.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Travel to and work at multiple locations.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: No prior experience or training required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Effective in small group presentations.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out oral instructions. Deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to lift 20 lbs. in each hand and carry for at least 250 feet. Capable of bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing.
