POSITION: Solid Waste Supervisor

SEASON: February - April

LOCATION: Port Hueneme, California

SECTOR/DEPT: Six Mile, LLC Antarctica

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The Solid Waste Supervisor oversees operations and the workflow of the department, responsible for organizing solid-waste operations, ensuring that applicable SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are followed, and safety standards are met.
2. Maintain and update the Solid Waste Tracking spreadsheet and ensure quality control of the data inputted.
3. Coordinate daily tasking depending on the skill set of the Waste Stream Coordinators.
4. Ensure proper training and familiarity with established protocol for solid-waste activities.
5. Operate equipment such as articulating loaders, graders, fork-lifts, tracked agricultural tractors, dump-trucks, and excavators safely and proficiently.
6. Perform daily equipment checks to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and in safe operating condition.
7. Comply with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.
8. Perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of tall vehicles and heavy equipment, crawling as needed, working outdoors in extreme conditions, and walking long distances daily.
9. Accurately record time worked and equipment hours used in Maximo.
10. Perform other duties as required.
11. Report to Manager, Solid Waste.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Willingness and ability to deploy to Port Hueneme, California is required.
2. Ability to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to safety regulation maximum.
3. Ability to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
4. Participation in community programs, such as chores and recycling efforts, is required.

PREFERRED:

Familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred.

EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent is strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Valid Driver's license required. Class A or B CDL preferred.

OTHER: US citizenship or permanent residency required.

A prerequisite of employment for this position is to successfully gain a favorable Elevated Background Investigation (EBI) result prior to deployment. Candidates hired will be required to complete online forms, written forms, fingerprint cards, and provide additional information as requested by National Science Foundation (NSF) Personnel Security office.
