The Department
CAA Brand Management is the licensing and consumer products division of CAA. We are a global leader in brand licensing, with over 30 years of experience helping brands expand into new consumer product categories, experiences, and territories. We partner with over 2,500 manufacturers and retailers, with offices in two global locations, to build thriving businesses for our clients. We take a client-centered and collaborative approach to every partnership, treating clients’ brands as if they were our own.
The Role
The Director, Brand Management is responsible for the growth, long-term relationships, and smooth operation of one or more of our clients’ consumer products programs. This role leads client relationships and oversees a cross-functional, often cross-regional, CAA Brand Management client team.
Responsibilities
- Manage client relationships: lead regular touchpoints to ensure timely, effective communication; act as the voice of the client for initial assessments of potential deals to ensure proposals are vetted; monitor client satisfaction and proactively manage issues with senior leadership.
- Manage licensee relationships: serve as primary point of contact for licensees and brand partners; develop essential business development tools (e.g., product catalogs, line sheets, event development and production); partner to understand business models and product development cycles to drive retail profitability; onboard new licensees; manage program calendar and product development timelines.
- Drive brand development: define strategically aligned opportunities for clients with sales teams to extend into new categories and ventures; support negotiation of licensing agreements; align and drive program-building activity across Creative, Business Development, Finance, and Legal; focus on entering relevant, innovative categories and developing co-branded or mono-branded licenses.
- Facilitate effective licensing operations: participate in strategy and budget discussions; analyze consumer trends to identify future growth categories; oversee licensing processes; ensure partnerships align with brand DNA and guidelines; promote industry best practices and reporting mechanisms; assist in resolving open issues with functional teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years in a results-oriented licensing leadership role, with preference for home product experience
- Experience working on high-caliber IP
- Ability to operate effectively within a complex matrix organization and drive results from a cross-functional team
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with partners across categories and regions
- Professional, adaptable, creative, timely, and of high integrity; self-starter with a fast-paced work style
- Strong time management and prioritization capabilities
- Confident presentation skills with strong business acumen
- Financial management, budgeting, analysis, and reporting capabilities
- Multi-tasking and organization skills to manage a growing account base across supporting functions
- Attention to detail; strong sales skills with quantitative and business justification abilities
- Ability to engage, inspire, and galvanize the organization around client visions and strategies
Location
This role will be based in our New York City office.
Compensation
The base annual salary for this position is in the range of $100,000 - $140,000. Wages may vary based on experience, role, business sector, and location. Please speak with a CAA Recruiter to learn more.
