Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join the Controllers Group as an Accounting Sr. Manager with a focus on project execution. You will execute on high priority projects for the company in support of our strategy and vision. Your responsibilities will be linked to the planning, coordination and implementation of changes across our Accounting Systems. The accuracy of these systems is essential to reporting correct financial information to our executives, regulators, and investors. Throughout this project, you will have the ability to understand our current and future systems along with upstream and downstream processes that will impact these systems including line of business dependencies.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. Salaries shown are for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refer to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salary ranges may vary by location.
Locations and ranges include: McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900; Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200; Wilmington, DE: $155,300 - $177,200. Other locations pay according to the applicable location’s range.
This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan. Responsibilities
- Lead large complex initiatives by providing strategic direction to partners, peers, and direct reports
- Understand the financial system value stream
- Leverage problem solving and influencing skills to ensure initiatives deliver on intent
- Partner cross-functionally with customers to gather and document requirements related to system configuration changes
- Administer system configuration changes
- Participate in peer review meetings to ensure adherence to best practices and standards
- Recommend changes or modifications to the existing processes and standards
- Maintain up-to-date understanding of processes that impact the GL and other finance platforms. This includes activities, risks and issues, assumptions and dependencies
- Coach and develop a team of associates
- Effectively interact and communicate with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
- At least 7 years of experience in Accounting OR Finance OR a combination
- At least 2 years of direct people management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 9+ years of experience in Accounting OR Finance OR a combination
- 3+ years of experience with PeopleSoft Financial System or Workday or Oracle or a combination
- 1+ years’ experience in an Agile Environment
- Experience working on projects using an Agile framework, preferably Scrum or Kanban
- Previous experience with Jira
- Previous experience with Birst, Tableau and SQL
- Basic knowledge of Amazon Web Services
- Demonstrated ability to develop and design engaging communication and training content for diverse audiences across all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to automate manual processes
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effectiveness in constantly changing environment
- Ability to apply integrative thinking in complex situations, identify issues and propose solutions
- Analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to integrate information from different sources to solve problems and improve processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Certified Public Accountant license
