Overview
Accounting Associate role at Anderson. The Accounting Associate handles various aspects of accounting for the Organization with responsibility for maintaining general ledger accounts, processing client invoicing, and producing accounting and financial reports.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Accounting Manager with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department.
- Prepares and submits customer invoices for Production and Print work. Supports the Staff Accountant with Account Management billing, as needed.
- Assists with month-end account management processing and recording of accounts receivable transactions, as needed.
- Manages client collections, monitors customer accounts for non-payment and delayed payment.
- Reports weekly collection status to Controller and Accounting Manager and appropriate management team members.
- Performs general accounts analysis and reconciliations, such as monthly department revenue and cost reports, including the reconciliations of bank accounts and other GL accounts. Prepares journal and adjusting entries, as needed.
- Prepares monthly financial reports such as the unearned revenue reconciliation and company sales report, for Controller and/or Accounting Manager’s review.
- Daily responsibility of checking/routing company voicemails, scanning mail, and reconciliation of written postage checks.
- Weekly responsibility for organization of file/mailroom, distribution of stamps to production staff and maintaining companywide office supply orders.
- Assists with ad-hoc financial projects and performs additional duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, preferred; knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures using basic mathematics and occasional basic algebra.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Other Skills: Detail-oriented, customer service oriented, teamwork, communication skills, computer literacy, multi-tasking, strong Excel skills, knowledge of accounting software.
- Physical Demands: Walking, sitting, using hands, talking or hearing; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; vision requirements including close and color vision.
- Work Environment: Moderate noise level.
