Salary: $82,000-$140,000

A growing, privately held company in the transportation and service space is seeking an Accounting Manager to step into a key financial leadership position. This Accounting Manager will oversee close, taxes, and staff leadership—helping improve processes and bring structure to a critical function in a high-impact, hands-on environment.

The position is based in the western suburbs of Chicagoland and is fully on-site.

A Few Things You Might Do

• Own and manage the month-end close process
• Oversee sales and excise tax filings (required experience for this Accounting Manager role)
• Lead a team of three staff accountants; if hired at Controller level, also oversee AR/AP
• Identify and implement process improvements across accounting workflows
• Serve as the go-to Accounting Manager for reporting accuracy and compliance
• Mentor staff and lead with emotional intelligence—this team values a people-first approach
• Support future scaling and structure-building efforts as the company continues to grow
  
  

Ideal Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; MBA or CPA a strong plus
• 7+ years of accounting experience, with prior leadership of accounting staff
• Must have hands-on experience with sales and excise tax
• Industry background flexible—retail, distribution, or dealership adjacent is helpful
