About the Organization
A multi-entity, multi-location business in the wellness space is experiencing rapid growth (doubled in size) and backed by private equity. The corporate team is small but highly collaborative, and we are looking for an Accounting Manager who can balance hands-on transactional work with leadership responsibilities. This role reports directly to the CFO and will move to a Controller position should promote in 18-24 months.
Role Overview
The Accounting Manager, newly created, will oversee the month-end close process, financial reporting, and compliance requirements while mentoring and supporting a small but capable accounting team. This role is highly visible, working closely with FP&A, operations, and leadership daily. The ideal candidate has experience in a private equity-backed environment, thrives in a fast-paced, growing organization, and enjoys balancing detailed accounting work with managerial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly close process, working toward reducing the close timeline from 15–16 days to the targeted 10 days.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations in QuickBooks Online (QBO), ensuring accurate transaction integration across entities and locations.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee compliance with lender reporting deadlines (monthly, 30 days post-close) and audit requirements (annual audit due March 31).
- Support transaction-related reporting, including post-closing statements typically due 90 days after closing.
- Collaborate closely with leadership, FP&A, and operations teams to provide accurate financial insights.
- Identify and implement process improvements to standardize accounting practices and streamline reporting.
- Mentor and support the Senior Accountant, fostering their professional development.
- Balance responsibilities evenly between hands-on transactional accounting and managerial oversight.
- Assist with ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives as required by leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with prior management responsibility.
- Experience in multi-entity, multi-location accounting environments required.
- Prior exposure to private equity-backed companies strongly preferred.
- Strong technical accounting skills with experience in transaction integration.
- Ability to meet strict reporting deadlines, including audits and lender compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate daily with executives and cross-functional teams.
