Overview
The Accounting Manager oversees the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective management of accounting processes. This role involves supervising accounting staff, maintaining financial records, and providing strategic insights to support business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS standards.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop, monitor, and analyze budgets and financial forecasts to support organizational goals.
- Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accounting professionals, ensuring high performance and professional development.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and audits.
- Process Improvement: Streamline accounting processes, implement internal controls, and enhance efficiency through automation or system upgrades.
- Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure adherence to financial standards.
- Financial Analysis: Provide insights through financial analysis and reporting to assist management in strategic decision-making.
- Accounts Management: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Policy Development: Establish and enforce accounting policies and procedures to maintain financial integrity.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Other: Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
Working Conditions
