The role is part of the Global Accounting & Reporting Services Department, focusing on technical accounting, oversight of brands, accounting policies and SEC compliance matters. This person will interact directly with directors and VPs within corporate and at brands.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted technical accounting advisor on accounting policy matters across various levels within the organization, including reviewing contracts, preparing accounting memos, and coordinating with corporate, brands, and external auditors.
- Monitor and prepare for the adoption of new and emerging accounting standards and regulations; analyze impacts, and support global implementations.
- Execute quarterly procedures in conjunction with external reports (10-K, 10-Q, UK reports, and earnings releases), including preparation of earnings release support schedules, footnote tie-outs, external auditor requests, and internal certifications.
- Provide global oversight and monitoring of brands and corporate functions, including accounting for environmental credits, balance sheet reviews, journal entry reviews, IFRS vs US GAAP adjustment reviews, and fixed assets reviews; identify improvements and communicate recommendations to VP/director levels.
- Create and maintain internal global accounting policies to drive consistency across brands, collaborating with leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Engage in special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of total experience at a Big 4 accounting firm or similar experience at a large SEC company.
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant (or in pursuit of CPA).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Intermediate knowledge of US GAAP
- Ability to research and interpret technical accounting guidance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Work Environment and Travel
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
Travel: No or very little travel likely.
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. This position is classified as “in-office.” It requires being in a Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
Compensation and Benefits
Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis. All non-sales roles participate in an annual cash bonus program; sales roles have an incentive plan.
