Leading a team of Staff Accountants to provide timely monthly reconciliations and analytical reports for subsidiary headquarter executive management. Performs variance analysis, processes reports to support account details, and assists field personnel with issues and questions. Resolving complex accounting issues, working under pressure, and multitasking are essential skills. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting and 5 to 10 years of experience, with prior supervisory experience. CPA certification or exam eligibility is preferred. Reports to the Accounting Manager.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure financial statements are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications.
- Assist departments and subsidiaries with account analysis and research.
- Lead and motivate a team of Senior Analysts to produce monthly and quarterly financial analyses and report findings to subsidiary management.
- Analyze subsidiary performance against historical data and report to management.
- Evaluate trends, identify, and investigate unusual account variances.
- Generate daily and monthly reports to support duties and prepare management and statutory reports as required.
- Make recommendations to resolve issues and implement corrections as necessary.
- Collaborate with subsidiary management to improve processes, ensuring documentation is current.
- Meet targeted monthly deadlines.
- Perform additional accounting research as needed.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors regarding processes and deliverables.
- Promote teamwork across operational and financial departments.
- Assist the accounting team with monthly responsibilities.
- Review and perform account reconciliations as needed.
- Handle other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 5–10 years of relevant experience.
- At least 3–5 years of supervisory experience.
- CPA or pursuing certification.
- Strong skills in general ledger reconciliations.
- Extensive knowledge of general ledger accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Critical thinking and timely decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills with colleagues and clients at all levels.
- Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and other computer skills.
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to travel as required.
