Overview

The Accounting Manager supervises the property’s Income Audit, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Cashier functions in a timely, accurate manner in accordance with accounting policies and procedures. Additionally, the Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Finance in maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Income Audit, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Cashier functions.
  • Support the Director of Finance in maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Organize, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Record, store, access, and analyze computerized financial information; check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy.
  • Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records using journals, ledgers, or computers.
  • Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute financial, accounting, auditing, or payroll reports and tables.
  • Keep track of all payments and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, expense reports, checkbooks, invoices, and statements.
  • Perform period-end closing procedures and reports; respond to and resolve questions, issues, or disputes from guests, employees and vendors.
  • Maintain billing systems, generate invoices, account statements and accounts receivable files and records; investigate and resolve irregularities in accounts receivable.
  • Produce daily/weekly/monthly/annual accounts receivable reports; process customer tax exemptions following government regulations.
  • Review, reconcile, and process credit card vouchers and advance deposits; monitor and audit gift certificate and incentive award redemption activity.
  • Verify and reconcile complex bank statements or department records; diagnose and resolve accounting issues independently.
  • Support payroll functions, including learning payroll submission procedures to act as backup payroll administrator.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure professional appearance; protect company assets and guest privacy; anticipate and address guest service needs; communicate clearly and professionally; develop positive working relationships with others; listen and respond to concerns.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 10 pounds as needed.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Managers.
  • Supervise, lead and motivate employees; coordinate day-to-day priorities of staff accountants; train staff accountants and hotel staff in proper accounting procedures; organize interdepartmental projects; support all areas of accounting in the absence of the Director of Finance.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to problem solve, delegate work, and escalate accounting and finance problems to Finance and Hotel management.
  • Ability to manage staff accountants; effective written and verbal communication with employees, guests, and contractors.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze activities and information to make logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to make decisions based on general policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate a computer and calculator; highly organized; able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and technical guidance.
  • Ability to compile facts and figures; strong computer skills and Excel knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance; hospitality experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of hotel systems and operations preferred.

Salary

Salary Range: 70k-85k
