Overview

Are you an experienced accounting professional ready to take the next step in your career and contribute to a fast-growing, mission-driven organization? We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to help lead our accounting function through continued growth and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct accounting functions, including monthly/quarterly/annual close and preparation of balance sheet account analysis. Perform day-to-day financial accounting and reporting related to the Company’s various entities, including joint venture and economic partnership accounting. Prepare periodic reports, review and reconcile data, and participate in the development of specialized financial data. Oversee and prepare entries and adjustments to Company records, files, and statements. Direct, train, supervise, and appraise accounting personnel. Contribute substantially to the accuracy, timeliness and integrity of the general ledger, financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure accuracy of monthly/quarterly/annual accounting close processes, including preparation and/or review of significant accruals (e.g., retail AR reserves). Supervise and review/approve journal entries and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to verify proper accounting in accordance with GAAP and proper supporting documentation.
  • Maintain the accuracy of joint venture reporting, identify efficiencies to scale joint venture close processes, and work in close partnership with FP&A and patient accounting services departments.
  • Support ongoing accounting transformation initiatives to optimize processes, improve data quality, and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and coordinate audit requests and deliverables.
  • Assist with accounting aspects of M&A transactions, including due diligence and integration activities.
  • Review periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) consolidated and disaggregated financial results to ensure accuracy and reasonableness, perform financial analyses, investigate questionable transactions, and make recommendations for corrections as needed. Assist with preparation of monthly management and board financial packages as needed.
  • Lead and motivate staff. Provide guidance and information to senior and staff accountants, as well as formal supervision (including performance reviews, goal setting, disciplinary action, time off approval and day-to-day oversight and direction).
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, Treasury, Tax, and other teams to support business initiatives and financial reporting needs.
  • Research and discuss complex accounting and reporting issues related to significant Company transactions and financial reporting processes, including newly formed joint ventures, site divestitures, physician compensation, accounts receivable and bad debt reserves. Assist with accounting due diligence related to new acquisitions. Perform technical research as needed.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to system enhancements, implementations, and process automation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability of accounting operations.
  • Assist in preparing financial analyses and reports for executive management and stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 6-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience.
  • Ability to research and discuss complex accounting and reporting issues.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience leading accounting teams in dynamic, high-growth environments.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements, standardization, and operational efficiencies.
  • Experience with external audits and preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong leadership skills to develop and manage a team.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification.
  • Healthcare industry experience.
  • ERP system upgrades or implementations experience.

Physical Requirements

Standard office environment.

  • More than 50% of the time: Sit, stand, walk; repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs; see, speak and hear to communicate.
  • Less than 50% of the time: Stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift 10-20 lbs.
