Overview

A dynamic private equity firm is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to take full charge of accounting operations for its largest portfolio company, generating $50M in annual revenue. Based in Bala Cynwyd, PA, this role offers a hybrid work environment with generous remote flexibility. The position will lead a small but impactful team of 3–4 professionals and own all facets of the accounting function.

What You’ll Do

  1. 1. Core Accounting Operations
    • Manage all aspects of Accounts Receivable, ensuring invoices are issued promptly and collections are tracked closely.
    • Regularly review aging reports and proactively address overdue balances to reduce exposure to bad debt.
    • Oversee or personally handle Accounts Payable, ensuring timely vendor payments and accurate processing of expense reports and purchase invoices.
    • Partner with HR to coordinate smooth and timely payroll execution.
    • Troubleshoot discrepancies and implement process improvements to streamline daily operations.
    • Ensure adherence to internal policies and help refine accounting workflows for better efficiency.
  2. 2. Period-End Close & Financial Accuracy
    • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, ensuring clean, accurate, and timely financials.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance financial reporting standards and drive the transition toward full GAAP compliance.
    • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal financial reports.
  3. 3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
    • Drive the development of budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans.
    • Perform variance analysis to explain deviations from budget and forecast figures.
    • Create actionable, data-driven reports to support leadership decision-making.
  4. 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as a finance partner to senior business leaders, providing key insights and financial support.
    • Proactively analyze business performance and identify areas for cost savings or growth.
    • Foster strong relationships across departments to ensure consistent communication and alignment with company goals.
  5. 5. Compliance & Controls
    • Maintain strict compliance with accounting regulations, internal controls, and company policies.
    • Build and maintain robust internal controls to protect company resources.
    • Coordinate with external consultants and the parent company for audits, tax filings, and other regulatory needs.
    • Lead, coach, and support a team of accounting professionals to ensure high performance and growth.
    • Conduct regular check-ins, provide feedback, and identify professional development opportunities.
    • Promote collaboration in a remote-first work environment, encouraging accountability and transparency.

What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. CPA or CMA highly desirable.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Systems: Skilled in accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP, etc.) and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Technical Know-How: Deep knowledge of GAAP and other applicable accounting principles.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational excellence.
  • Communication: Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Track record of mentoring and developing team members and working cross-functionally.
