Overview

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee our general ledger and accounting operations, ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and timely reporting. This role combines hands-on accounting expertise with leadership responsibilities—managing the monthly close, reconciliations, and audit processes while mentoring a team to deliver accurate and reliable financial information. The role is based in Houston, TX, with an expectation of four days per week onsite.

Responsibilities

  • General Ledger & Close Management: Oversee all aspects of the general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals across multiple entities.
  • Close processes: Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
  • Financial statements: Ensure accurate preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules, and external audit deliverables.
  • Internal controls: Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Process Improvement & Systems: Identify and implement process improvements in accounting operations, leveraging ERP and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Policy compliance & team management: Oversee compliance with accounting policies across entities and mentor a team of accountants, providing training, guidance, and performance management.
  • Culture & continuous improvement: Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the accounting team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with FP&A, operations, and business unit leaders to ensure accurate allocations and reporting.
  • Ad-hoc work: Support ad-hoc analyses, audits, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics GP, SAP); proficiency in Excel required.
  • Demonstrated success in managing month-end close and reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Location: Houston, TX; Onsite four days per week.
