Digs is a growing community of premium Pet Resorts united by a single vision: to elevate the experience for pets and the people who love them. We partner with passionate Pet Resort owners to deliver exceptional care, while deepening the human-animal bond that inspires everything we do.

As the pet services industry continues to expand, so do customer expectations—and the demands of independent operators. Many owners have built their businesses out of deep passion, but face limitations in scaling due to capital, resources, or competitive pressure. Our approach offers a thoughtful transition, allowing owners to realize the value they’ve created while ensuring their legacy is carried forward. Once a resort joins our platform, it benefits from dedicated operational leadership, centralized support, scalable systems, marketing resources, and enhanced training and recruitment tools. We believe that by investing in great businesses and great people, we’re building something stronger than any one location alone—a trusted network where pets thrive, teams grow, and communities are well served.

About The Position

Digs is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Chicago headquarters. This role is a key part of our corporate finance team and will work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager to drive accurate reporting, implement financial controls, and support the ongoing development of scalable accounting practices.

As a growing company acquiring and integrating pet resorts nationwide, we’re building the finance function of the future—and this role offers a unique opportunity to help shape it. You’ll play a critical role in establishing processes, improving systems, and supporting the operational needs of a dynamic, multi-entity organization.

Key Responsibilities

At Digs, we’re building a respectful, positive, and professional work environment—one where every team member plays a role in shaping our culture. As Senior Accountant, you’ll work cross-functionally and collaboratively to support that mission while taking ownership of critical accounting responsibilities, including:

  • Financial Reporting – Lead key components of the month-end close process, including preparation and review of complex account reconciliations such as revenue, expenses, and payroll. Ensure timely and accurate integration of newly acquired businesses into BTH’s financial reporting.
  • Accounting Operations – Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with GAAP, including goodwill, revenue, and intercompany activity.
  • Financial Analysis – Analyze financial statements to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, delivering insights that help inform operational and strategic decisions.
  • Audit Preparation – Support the annual external audit by preparing schedules, managing audit requests, and serving as a key contact throughout the audit process.
  • Process Improvement/Automation – Partner with leadership to design and implement scalable, tech-enabled accounting workflows that support growth and efficiency.
  • Internal Controls – Work with the Senior Accounting Manager to maintain and strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance as the organization scales.
  • Team Collaboration & Mentorship – Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff. Collaborate closely with FP&A, AP, and payroll teams to ensure financial accuracy and alignment across the organization.
  • Adaptability – Take on other responsibilities as needed in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving company environment.

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the key deliverables.
