Job Description Summary:
A leading real estate investment and management organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting records, financial reporting, and administrative matters for assigned projects and entities. This role will also supervise and mentor accounting staff while ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review general ledger activity, financial statements, and supporting schedules for accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee treasury functions, including bank reconciliations, contribution/distribution calculations, and cash flow projections.
  • Review investor and lender funding requests, reserves, and write-offs in accordance with governing agreements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of accounting records and reports.
  • Provide accounting guidance on complex areas such as debt modifications, acquisitions/dispositions, and interest capitalization.
  • Review or prepare property and development management fees and construction management fees.
  • Research accounting guidance and draft technical accounting memos.
  • Support internal controls compliance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist with annual property budgets and reconciliations between Argus models and forecasts.
  • Prepare audited financial statements, footnotes, and tax-related workpapers.
  • Develop, supervise, and mentor Senior Accountants and Accountants, including providing performance feedback.
  • Lead or participate in training courses, pilots, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports for management and external stakeholders.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development, including CPA certification, where applicable.
LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT:

  • Supervise, train, and develop staff accountants.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support for performance reviews.
  • Lead internal training sessions to build accounting and financial knowledge across the team.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five or more years of professional accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Commercial real estate industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • CPA designation preferred (or progress toward certification).
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems; Oracle and JD Edwards experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary range of $110,000 to $120,000.
