About the role:
Our client, a fast-growing EdTech company, is seeking an experienced Accounting Director to lead accounting operations, ensure financial compliance, and support strategic initiatives across U.S. and international entities. This leadership role will manage a team of accounting professionals and oversee a broad scope of responsibilities, including financial reporting, tax compliance, foreign payroll, intercompany transactions, and treasury functions.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering collaboration and accountability.

  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.

  • Manage monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

  • Coordinate global accounting functions, including payroll and compliance activities in international regions.

  • Supervise intercompany accounting, including reconciliations and foreign currency transactions.

  • Provide oversight for tax compliance, including indirect taxes, income tax filings, audits, and regulatory correspondence.

  • Support integration of acquisitions and special accounting projects, such as royalty tracking and grant reporting.

  • Ensure commission payments and related processes are accurately calculated, reconciled, and documented.

  • Assist with treasury operations, including payment processing and cash flow management.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support broader financial strategy.
Qualifications:

We're looking for candidates with the following background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in dynamic or growing organizations.

  • Experience managing multi-entity and/or international accounting operations.

  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general tax compliance principles.

  • Proficiency in managing complex close processes and financial reporting cycles.

  • Comfortable working with multiple currencies and global finance considerations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional collaboration.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency in accounting systems and tools; experience with ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite) is a plus.

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
