Job Title: Legal Secretary - Civil Litigation (Construction Defect/HOA Experience a Plus)
Location: Carlsbad, CA (On-site)

Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 DOE
Start Date: ASAP (To allow for training with current staff)

About the Role:

Our Carlsbad office is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Legal Secretary to join our civil litigation team. This is a direct hire position supporting attorneys who focus on construction defect and HOA matters. With a valued employee retiring soon, we're looking to bring someone onboard quickly to ensure a smooth transition and provide ample training.

Top 3 Qualities We're Looking For:

Strong calendaring skills and diligence with court deadlines

5+ years of civil litigation experience

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare legal documents, including shells, pleadings, discovery, and correspondence

Maintain and manage litigation calendars (court deadlines, hearings, depositions, etc.)

File documents with state and federal courts (including e-filing)

Communicate professionally with court clerks, clients, vendors, and opposing counsel

Support attorneys with trial preparation and day-to-day case management

Organize and manage case files, both physical and digital

Perform general administrative duties as needed

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary in civil litigation

Knowledge of court rules, procedures, and filing deadlines (state and federal)

Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal practice management software

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Experience in construction defect or HOA law is a plus

Salary Range: $70,000 to $100,000 (commensurate with experience)

Medical: 100% covered for employee

401(k): With employer match after 90 days

Additional Benefits: Aflac and other supplemental options available

PTO: 2 weeks of vacation + 6 sick days annually
