We are pleased to offer the current job opportunity for a Unit Secretary position within Kenneth Moy DuPage Care Center. This position provides administrative support for the subacute unit, including maintaining resident records and performing various clerical tasks.

This position is assigned to the AFSCME (Care Center) Bargaining Unit.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Provides administrative support to an assigned unit.
  2. Prepares for doctor’s visits by making charts, test results, and reports for scheduled residents available.
  3. Prepares and maintains a variety of unit records (e.g., advanced directives, reports, medical records, dietary restrictions).
  4. Greets and directs visitors and answers the telephone and intercom.
  5. Prepares new admission and discharge charts.
  6. Notifies appropriate Care Center staff of resident expirations.
  7. Examines residents’ wristbands for DNR/CPR status, feeding restrictions, etc.
  8. Inventories and maintains documentation for residents’ medical equipment (e.g., mattresses, C-Pap, range of motion devices, beds, wheelchairs).
  9. Maintains supply of all required forms/documents.
  10. Notifies relatives, the business office, and the kitchen of resident discharges.
  11. Sorts and delivers mail.
  12. Transports residents to events within and outside the facility.
  13. Provides non-clinical assistance to residents.
  14. Performs related work as required.

Requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in general office work requiring skilled typing.

A passing score on skills tests in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

A post-offer physical and pre-employment background check are required.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands include exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, or pull objects, including the human body. The work is primarily sedentary, involving sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.

Work Environment

The work environment involves working with residents and attending to their daily needs. The noise level is moderate to quiet. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
