Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various areas of law, including but not limited to estate planning, family law, and litigation. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, proficiency in legal software, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The Legal Secretary will provide essential support to attorneys and contribute to the smooth operation of our law office.
Responsibilities
- Provide executive administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling appointments and managing calendars.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Conduct legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to assist with case preparation.
- Maintain organized files and document management systems for easy retrieval of case materials.
- Assist in the preparation of trial materials and exhibits for litigation cases.
- Manage data entry tasks accurately while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Facilitate communication with clients, witnesses, and court personnel while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Coordinate project management tasks related to ongoing cases and ensure deadlines are met.
- Perform document review and transcription duties as required by attorneys.
- Support various areas of law including immigration law, landlord-tenant law, environmental law, securities law, personal injury law, workers\' compensation law, patent law, tribal law & regulations, UCC law, and more.
Qualifications
- Strong writing skills with attention to detail for legal drafting and proofreading.
- Proficient in legal case management software such as PCLaw and iManage.
- Experience in clerical tasks including filing and data entry within a legal office environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with project management principles related to legal work.
- Ability to conduct thorough research on various legal topics and regulations.
