Position Summary

Performs administrative and clerical duties to support the Medical staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets and directs visitors, screens and routes telephone calls.
  • Responds to personal and telephone inquiries from the general public and other Tribal agencies.
  • Responsible for photocopies and facsimiles.
  • Tabulates and posts data in recording files; enters information into statistical reports.
  • Composes routine correspondence and memos.
  • Creates and maintains office records and file systems.
  • Distributes mail and other office information.
  • Prepares check requests, purchase orders, invoices. Orders office supplies.
  • Assists supervisor with coordinating requests for medical assistance.
  • Schedules meetings and appointments for department staff members.
  • Provides back-up when Medical Coordinator is out of the office or is unavailable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have proficient experience and knowledge with computers (i.e. Word for Windows, Excel, etc.).

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Requirements

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Must be able to demonstrate strong organizational skills, self-motivation, dependability and flexibility.

Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity and compassion to individuals and families experiencing stressful situations.
