Job Summary:
The position is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Medical Office. It provides clerical and secretarial support, manages correspondence, maintains departmental manuals, and assists with clinician scheduling and filing systems. The role acts as the primary link between patients and the practice, and serves as a liaison between the practice and outside support services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide secretarial support such as typing, filing, faxing, and maintaining office equipment.
- Coordinate staff schedules and appointments, register patients, verify insurance coverage, and handle referrals.
- Screen and direct incoming calls, set up meetings, and open and route mail.
- Maintain departmental tracking systems, PI plans, and reports.
- Maintain treatment rooms and clinical equipment, manage inventory, and order supplies.
- Collect co-payments and fees, prepare patient records, and collaborate with physician offices to maintain forms.
- Conduct patient registration and billing in applicable systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Vocational or technical training.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- One year of relevant experience or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computers and word processing applications.
- Strong medical secretary background.
- Ability to format, proofread, and communicate effectively.
