Overview

This position requires a candidate to be both a licensed CNA in the state of Virginia and have secretarial/admin experience. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Registered Nurses, this role is responsible for customer service, chart management, retrieval of reports, and patient care duties. The position may perform duties such as ordering supplies, order entry, filing of patient information, follow up with patients and physician offices, and other secretarial/clerical duties as directed. The employee must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in the assigned unit and promote a safe work environment in alignment with national patient safety initiatives.

What You Will Do

• Demonstrate understanding of the importance of accurate and timely order entry, retrieve testing results, research CPOE, ensure correct order entry and medical record management, and prioritize workload to complete daily duties.
• Ensure availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) to support positive patient outcomes. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment; stock supplies and store equipment properly.
• Navigate systems to access patient information to facilitate transfers; use systems to communicate and order supplies and forms.
• Follow plan of care and perform treatments and procedures competently under the direction of RN/LPN, up to unit/facility competency requirements (e.g., various patient care tasks as appropriate).
• Demonstrate understanding of diverse patient care populations served within the community.
• Answer phones promptly with appropriate etiquette and screen calls to support positive service; act as an advocate for customer service as the greeter of the unit.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment; assist team members as needed and keep the team informed of changes as they arise.

Qualifications

Education

• Nurse Aide (Preferred)

Experience

• Secretarial (Required)
• Healthcare computer-based systems (Preferred)
• Healthcare experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire (Required)
• CPR/BLS Certification - AHA/ARC/ANSI (Required)
