Unit Secretary - Med Surg - Bon Secours St Francis Hospital

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Work Shift: Evenings (United States of America) - Full-time: 3pm - 11pm and every other weekend

Job Summary: To assist the staff by performing clerical duties, maintaining and updating patient records in a timely manner, and acknowledging customers upon arrival to the unit with an enthusiastic and friendly approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education: Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination.
2. Licensure/Certification: Current American (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) card preferred.
3. Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of clerical procedures and medical terminology; skill in English grammar and spelling; neat, legible handwriting; ability to file and maintain patient records, files, and reports; excellent communication skills; ability to use office equipment, such as multi-line telephones, computer terminals, and printers.

Other: Constant interaction with internal and external customers including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors. Frequent sitting, walking, standing, stooping, bending. May require lifting or moving items up to 25 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Minimal exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases, and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, and/or irregular hours. Ability to read and comprehend.
