2025-2026 Secretary to Associate Principal of Instruction @ Elsik High School

Primary Purpose:

To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so the principal may devote maximum attention to the education program for the campus.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Qualifies for state paraprofessional certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of school district organization, operations, and administrative policies
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing
  • Ability to multi-task complex administrative activities
  • Must be able to type and possess other secretarial skills
  • Demonstrate interest in education and students

Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ experience as a secretary within the district or in another district of comparable size

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Clerical Support

  • Maintain faculty/staff personnel records/evaluations/attendance records.
  • Maintain substitute records, evaluations, weekly reports, long-term substitutes-fill positions when subs are not available.
  • Staff Development liaison.
  • Deal with needs of faculty and staff – make sure all information is routed/processed appropriately – short leaves, check requisitions, etc.
  • Set up and maintain budget records for departments under respective API.
  • Input purchase orders and warehouse orders for departments under respective API.
  • Input maintenance requests and deal with crisis situations concerning maintenance and custodial problems.
  • Receive and route incoming phone calls.
  • Perform usual office routines and practices associated with a busy, productive office – correspondence, reports, notices, etc.
  • Maintain a log of visitors to the school, greet and direct parents/patrons.
  • Be computer literate in various district programs.

Other

  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws and regulations, and local board policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Evaluation
  • Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Non-Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used : Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Pay Grade: CSP4

2025-2026 Salary Range Min. $31,925 Mid. $38,200 Max. $44,471 (Based on previous experience)

Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.
