Overview
Airline Wheelchair Assistant
Bags, a Metropolis company, is an artificial intelligence company for the real world. We use computer vision to enable checkout-free parking experiences and are reinventing parking to power checkout-free experiences everywhere. This role supports airport operations by assisting passengers traveling in wheelchairs.
Responsibilities
- Push wheelchair passengers to and from gates and assist with moving luggage to vehicles, taxi stands, parking shuttle stations, and rental car stations.
- Roll customer-occupied wheelchairs safely down jet bridges and ensure wheel brakes are in place before passengers exit.
- Complete any necessary wheelchair or incident reports and follow dispatcher gate orders.
- Maintain a friendly and positive attitude and attentiveness to each passenger’s needs; assist with problems, questions, or concerns.
- Maintain professional working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, managers, airline employees, and airport authorities.
- Exceed customer service standards and carry out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to clear a background and drug screen.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and push a loaded wheelchair up to 300 lbs up and down inclines throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift passengers from the wheelchair to the plane seat.
- Experience in customer service preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional grammar, tone, and pronunciation when communicating with internal and external customers.
- Complete all required training including airport compliance; able to obtain an airport badge.
Appearance Guidelines
- Professional business-like appearance; uniform and grooming standards must be maintained.
- Frontline staff may have facial hair in accordance with management policy; ensure tattoos are covered by uniform where required.
- Clean, well-maintained approved uniforms must be worn on shift.
- Additional requirements as specified by management.
While performing duties, employees must be able to use hands and fingers, communicate with customers and colleagues, and perform movements such as sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, turning, stretching, and bending. Lifting and moving up to 75 pounds is required. Vision requirements include close, peripheral, and adjustable focus.
