The African American Studies Department at the University of Houston invites applicants to apply for part-time lecturer positions. African American Studies is a distinct academic discipline that engages Africa and the diaspora through research and teaching. This is a non-tenure track position and lecturer appointments are made on a semester-to-semester basis.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Successful candidates must have experience teaching college-level courses and be prepared to teach online and/or in-person. Preferred applicants will have a Ph.D. in African American Studies. We are especially interested in those who can teach our existing courses. Applicants with specialties in theater, religious studies, gender and sexuality studies, race and health are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a Master's degree or substantial professional experience will also be considered.

Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon final selection. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and require a criminal history check.
