Overview

Electromechanical Technician – Claremont Fiber Plant. Reports to Fiber Plant Maintenance Manager. The Fiber Plant Maintenance department employee provides support to all areas of the fiber facility.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work a 12 hour shift (Night or Day; may train on days but will move to nights eventually), climb ladders, enter confined spaces, work at heights, lift up to 75 pounds, and be on their feet for the entire shift.
  • Act as a first responder to maintenance breakdown situations involving electrical, mechanical or PC/PLC malfunctions.
  • Complete preventative and corrective maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
  • Complete work orders and issue parts via SAP CMMS system.
  • Act as a medical first responder in the Fiber plant.
  • Comply with all requirements in 40 CFR 261-265 concerning hazardous wastes including labeling, storage and transportation from production areas to Waste Storage Pad.
  • Work with technical staff to resolve daily production issues.
  • Ensure all product meets requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
  • Comply with safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
  • Maintain exceptional housekeeping in maintenance support areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

  • Reports To: Fiber Plant Maintenance Manager

Qualifications

  • Education: Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: Associate degree in Engineering or technology; Licensed Industrial Tradesman; NCDOL Journeyman Apprentice – Trade Skills Program.
  • Experience – Required: Must complete OJT for specific job classification; ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics; experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Experience – Preferred: Experience in fiber optic manufacturing; servo control drives and motors; PLC logic and basic troubleshooting; pump, chiller and cooling tower maintenance.
  • Skills/Attributes: Excellent communication; detail and quality oriented; knowledge of basic statistical tools; analytical technical problem solver; motivated team player; ability to work with little supervision.
