BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Asian American Center is seeking a part-time assistant (work-study) to work alongside the Academic Dean and Program Assistant. Hours will be flexible and vary based on week-to-week needs, but include a wide variety of tasks dealing with the academic and programmatic needs of the Center, including research for publications and articles, event production for academic and social events. Ideal candidates should be interested in race and ethnicity, conversant in conversations around Asian American identity, and willing to learn more about the fields of Asian American theology and ministry.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Asian American Center is seeking a part-time assistant (work-study) to work alongside the Academic Dean and Program Assistant. Hours will be flexible and vary based on week-to-week needs, but include a wide variety of tasks dealing with the academic and programmatic needs of the Center, including research for publications and articles, event production for academic and social events. Ideal candidates should be interested in race and ethnicity, conversant in conversations around Asian American identity, and willing to learn more about the fields of Asian American theology and ministry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Open the AAC office and maintain the front desk
- Basic office administrative support
- Event production assistance, including but not limited to: setting up rooms; laying out table settings, tablecloths, and decorations; receiving and setting out food; greeting attendees; taking names for email lists; etc.
- Assist with office errands and tasks, such as picking up office supplies from local stores, dropping off and picking up print jobs, ordering food, etc.
- Research assistance, including scanning and digitizing documents, performing internet searches for copyright or contact information, indexing files, and updating shared spreadsheets.
- Prompt and professional communication in person and over email, phone, and text messages
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Professional oral and written English communication.
- Familiarity with higher education or theological education preferred
- Possesses multicultural sensitivity and willingness to learn about racial/cultural/ethnic contexts, particularly as pertains to a broad Asian American context
- Prior experience as an office assistant or in a professional academic office setting.
- Proficiency with Google Apps along with Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to operate independently and problem-solve preferred.
- Able to stand for up to an hour at a time, or sit for up to 3-4 hours at a time.
- Able to climb flights of stairs occasionally
- Able to bend and reach for low and high objects occasionally
- Able to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs occasionally
- Able to push and pull a hand truck or wheeled cart.
- Must be willing to abide by Fuller Community Standards
- This is an on-campus position and expected to work out of the Pasadena, CA campus.
- Must be eligible for Federal Work Study
- Hourly rate the seminary expects to pay: $19.00 per hour USD
