American Sign Language, Adjunct faculty are needed to teach day (evening, weekend, and/or online) classes at the Community College of Baltimore County. Adjunct faculty will be expected to facilitate learning via preparation and delivery of instruction, cooperate with College support staff in timely submission of materials and grades as required, and coordinate activities with the Program Director or Coordinator. Adjunct faculty are selected based on program needs and subject matter expertise of the applicant.

Compensation: Adjunct level 1 - $1,085 per credit hour.

  • Master’s degree in deaf-related discipline such as American Sign Language Teaching, Deaf Studies, or Linguistics of ASL. ASLTA certification strongly preferred.
  • Two (2) years teaching experience.
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft applications knowledge.
  • Prior college teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Fulfilling department and college responsibilities as directed by the program director and/or course coordinator.
  • Abiding by College-wide policies and procedures regarding classroom conduct.
  • Employing a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diverse student population.
  • Adhering to the scheduled class/lab times.
  • Developing a course syllabus consistent with program and College policies.
  • Ensuring program-specific evaluation methods are administered and completed fairly and consistently.
  • Ensuring evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assess course objectives.
  • Monitoring student performance regularly and providing feedback within a reasonable timeframe.
