Overview

The Department of History, Humanities, and Modern Languages at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, is seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified individual for an Instructor of the Practice (professional track) position in American Sign Language. At UT, Instructors of the Practice are considered Master Teachers. Instructors of the Practice are hired as expert instructors with no scholarship expectations and nominal service expectations. Professional track faculty are not on the tenure track, but these positions are continuing positions with rank advancement opportunities. Instructors of the Practice teach a 30-credit load, which typically is a 5-5 load. Any summer teaching or overload teaching during the fall or spring semesters is additional work for additional compensation.

The successful candidate will contribute significantly to a rapidly growing ASL program to train future interpreters towards an ASL interpreter certification and/or degree. This position starts July 1, 2026. Classes begin in mid-August 2026.
