Middlebury College - Assistant Professor of Latin American History, Middlebury College
Assistant Professor of Latin American History — The History Department invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Latin American History, beginning in fall 2026. Research can focus on political, social, or economic history broadly defined. The successful candidate will be expected to teach about both Spanish Latin America and Portuguese Latin America, including survey courses in both colonial and modern periods, seminar courses in areas of expertise, and a history methods course. The candidate will also supervise independent senior thesis projects. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in hand by August 31, 2026, and to demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching and scholarly potential.
As part of a full teaching load, the candidate will occasionally contribute to Middlebury's First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings. All faculty at Middlebury are expected to contribute to service to the College, including committee work and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked.
