Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Educational ASL Interpreter to work onsite in the Monroe, CT area for the 20252026 school year. This is a full-time, contract position supporting one elementary school student in a 1:1 setting.

We are looking for a strong interpreter with proven ability in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time interpretation of spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for an elementary student.
• Facilitate communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers in a classroom and school environment.
• Support academic, social, and extracurricular participation of the student.
• Collaborate with educational team members to ensure consistent access to instruction and school activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of interpreting in educational settings.

Requirements

• RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) and/or NIC (National Interpreter Certification), or EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score required.
• Strong fluency in ASL and English, with excellent receptive and expressive skills.
• Experience in a K12 or school-based setting highly preferred.
• Ability to interpret in a variety of educational contexts and adapt to student needs.
• Must pass initial phone screening with Soliant recruiter before being submitted to school district for consideration.
