CRNA or AA for Moffitt Anesthesiology - Part-Time
CRNA or AA will serve as a member of the Anesthesiology Department and provide anesthesia care to cancer patients under the direct supervision of physician anesthesiologists. The CRNA / AA must work within the scope of practice per protocol and state statutes. Workday hours may be 8, 10 or 12-hour shifts; hours could extend to meet patient and service needs. Availability for rotating shifts, which may include late call and at-home call (additional pay) is required.
Position Highlights
- Performs procedures to render the patient insensible to pain during surgical, therapeutic, or diagnostic procedures, including regional, spinal, and general anesthesia per ASA guidelines.
- Recognize and take corrective action for abnormal patient responses to anesthesia, adjunctive medications, or other therapies.
- Support life functions during anesthesia, including induction, intubation, mechanical ventilation, and management of fluids, electrolytes, and blood components.
- Participate in post-anesthesia recovery care, including fluids and drugs administration and a postoperative anesthesia evaluation.

Responsibilities
- Perform and/or review preoperative anesthetic evaluations thoroughly.
- Collaborate with the Anesthesiologist to formulate and implement an anesthetic plan based on the preoperative evaluation.
- Notify the supervising Anesthesiologist when the anesthetic or preoperative course changes significantly.
- Recognize and treat cardiac arrhythmias under anesthesia.
- Call for help for life-threatening emergencies and initiate emergency resuscitation measures as needed.
- Order (under protocol) pre-anesthetic medications.
- Order or perform monitoring procedures per ASA guidelines.
- Serve as a preceptor for Anesthesia students and a resource for nursing and other personnel.
- Communicate and consult with referring physicians.
- Participate in case review and risk management for the department.
- Maintain complete and accurate anesthetic records, including timely billing documentation.
- Document antibiotic type, dose, and administration time.
Credentials And Qualifications
- Master's degree required.
- Training and education consistent with completion of an American Association of Nurse Anesthetists or Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants approved program.
- Active BLS and ACLS.
