We are currently looking for an Adjunct IT/Cybersecurity Instructor. Adjunct faculty members are student-centered, teaching mentors who assist students to progress through their academic programs to completion. Essentially, the adjunct faculty member’s responsibilities involve instruction and assessment of student learning.
Responsibilities
- Within face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or HyFlex learning environments, facilitate student learning, deliver career-relevant instruction, provide an environment conducive to learning, evaluate student learning for all assigned classes, respond to student inquiries, and grade all assignments in a timely manner.
- Engage students using instructional techniques such as collaborative learning, experiential learning, and/or problem-based learning.
- Deliver course curriculum utilizing the University’s learning management system.
- Participate in course and program-level learning assessments; help define student learning outcomes, select and administer measures, evaluate performance, and suggest improvements.
- Work with the Dean, Department Chair, and/or Program Director in developing and revising course maps and materials.
- Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, externship, observation, field experience, and similar settings as appropriate.
- Participate in student retention efforts, document retention activities, and connect students with University services.
- Communicate availability (e.g., office hours) to students via appropriate channels.
- Adjunct faculty are encouraged to attend graduation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Cybersecurity or IT
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Net+, Sec+, Cloud+, Linux+, CySA+, PenTest+, CASP, ISC2 certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CC, SSCP, CGRC) or equivalent, current
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership, customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to function in a stressful work environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel to multiple locations as needed
- Physical ability to sit/stand for long periods and to move about campus
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff face-to-face, by phone, and electronically
