Overview
The Opportunity: Ulteig is currently seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Principal Cybersecurity and NERC CIP Compliance Engineer role supporting, managing, and leading clients to develop NERC CIP programs and advise on OT Cybersecurity hardening of utility networks.
This individual will lead clients through the development and implementation of NERC CIP programs along with support for site registration of renewable energy sites. They will build awareness and set standards regarding best practices for CIP compliance and cybersecurity for Ulteig designs through training presentations and business development. The Principal Cybersecurity and NERC CIP Compliance Engineer will oversee less experienced staff and reports to a Technical Manager in the department.
What You\'ll Do
- Review internal designs and practices to make recommendations for OT Cybersecurity hardening
- Engage with clients to provide guidance on industry best practices, compliance strategies, and interpretation of the NERC CIP standards.
- Develop NERC CIP compliance programs for clients and advise upon their implementation
- Guide clients through the NERC registration process
- Develop NERC CIP and OT Cybersecurity training to elevate expertise in the company
- Perform mock audits and generate comprehensive reports of findings and recommendations
- Regularly evaluate standard internal designs to ensure compliance with NERC CIP and educate the department on best practices
- Develop documentation and services to support clients with NERC CIP compliance and management
- Develop business plans for expanded NERC CIP and OT Cybersecurity services within the company
- Work cross-functionally with internal cybersecurity stakeholders to uphold policy-driven security and compliance objectives
- Approve design templates and specifications
- Review and approve designs developed by others
What We Expect from You
- Minimum of a Bachelor\'s degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Cybersecurity certification (CISSP, GICSP, etc.)
- 15+ years of industry experience with a mix of managing NERC CIP programs for an electrical utility and building NERC CIP programs for clients.
- Participation in a professional association and a history of publishing articles or presenting on industry panels to influence the industry is preferred.
- Experience in interpreting and operationalizing client-specific security requirements and contractual commitments to ensure compliant service delivery.
- Expert in most discipline-specific software packages and can teach others how to use them
- Deep understanding of the NERC CIP standards and the ability to interpret and apply them to a diverse range of renewable energy designs
- Expert in network security and device hardening
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to a diverse audience of technical and non-technical professionals
- Proven track record of preparing organizations for NERC audits and implementing compliance programs
- Experience working in the electric utility industry or other industrial network environments with understanding of SCADA devices and protective relays is strongly preferred
- Demonstrates excellent verbal/written communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management and clients
- Gains knowledge by attending technical training sessions or conferences and shares knowledge through technical reports or presenting interesting, relevant topics to the team
- Ability and willingness to travel (less than 15% of the time)
- Valid driver\'s license and ability to meet company driving standards
- Must have permanent authorization to work in US

Additional Opportunity Details: Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $145,000 - $195,000. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
