Overview This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Business Management Division, LAN Network Services BR.
Duties Answers questions, solves problems, recommendations/solutions or responds to correct customer's malfunctions or problems.
Responds to system shutdowns, service interruptions, hardware/software failures and analyzes problems to determine reasons and effects repair and/or replacement to restore equipment operations.
Works with peer IT Specialists to provide life cycle management at field sites with a planned replacement of user IT equipment every two years, vice the standard three years for DISA PAC Headquarters users.
Applies professional knowledge of current network technology and systems administration for integration into the Command IT architecture.
Provides interpretations of higher authority regulations and guidance concerning systems administration. Identifies and recommends considerations for use in local SA standard operating procedures.
Responsible for systems hardware maintenance, configuration files backup and system security to ensure integrity of the LAN/WAN.
Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
This is a drug testing designated position. Individuals tentatively selected will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement and random drug testing after appointment.
This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the Manual.
This position has been designated as Mission Essential.
