The Market Developer is responsible for providing sales mentorship, practice guidance, and joint field work to increase productivity and total sales for advisors and other sales roles in the area. They serve as the primary support person for new advisors within their first year and offer supplementary support throughout their first four years. The Market Developer ensures that clients receive purpose-based advice by providing training, case consultation, and mentorship, working side-by-side with new advisors and other sales associates. This role will foster a culture of excellence, compliance, and client-centric service, ensuring that advisors are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to succeed. It is critical in retaining financial advisors and sales roles by helping them get off to a productive start in their new careers.

Responsibilities

  • Launch New Financial Advisors into Teams: Conduct joint fieldwork as scheduled to observe and offer feedback. Provide support for case preparation, consultation, and delivery. Demonstrate and coach the use of Salesforce, MoneyGuidePro, Thrivent Planning Platform and other Thrivent tools during the sales process. Serve as the main point of contact for financial advisors as they develop sales goals and help analyze gaps and growth opportunities. Help advisors develop/execute marketing plans leveraging relationships within their market, referrals, and communities. Advise on activities to achieve sales goals. Serve as an extension of the field training team to enable the development and execution of advisor training deliverables.
  • Foster Growth within Existing Teams: Support practices to launch client-facing sales roles on their team. Create onboarding approaches that fit the development path. Communicate with the team and leadership on strengths and development gaps. Collaborate to connect support and core training needs for purpose-based advice.
  • Collaborate with Others: Work with market and area leadership to support referrals for talent. Influence market plans to drive total sales growth. Inform leadership on advisor progress toward development and sales goals. Facilitate connections with experienced advisors for additional field work. Leverage matrix partners to stay informed of best practices or changes impacting new advisor launches.
  • Market Leadership: Work with the Community Engagement team to execute advisor growth plans. Develop quality talent by assessing development needs and staying current on processes and systems with matrix partner support. Conduct selection interviews as needed in support of the market director. Foster followership by showing enthusiasm for the career and for Thrivent.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Required: Four-year college degree strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of solid sales results (e.g., L/H/A, investments) with a focus on holistic, purpose-based client advice.
  • Experience leading groups, presenting, and facilitating to drive understanding for new financial advisor success.
  • Professional designation or progress toward achievement preferred.
  • Experience using Thrivent tools including the Thrivent Planning Platform and Salesforce, with ability to model and demonstrate usage as needed.
  • Ability to utilize technology effectively to coach and train new financial advisors.
  • Willingness to commit to joint field work expectations.
  • Licensing: FINRA Series 7, 63/65 or 66 required or obtained within 90 days. State life, health and variable insurance licensed and appointed or obtained within 90 days. State securities registered and insurance licensed for all states in the market or aligned to advisors.
  • Satisfactory background check and compliant record.
  • Ability to travel within the region (up to 50%, may require overnight) and conduct business during evening hours. Must have own vehicle for business use.

Pay Transparency

Thrivent’s long-term growth depends on attracting, rewarding, and retaining people who are committed to helping others thrive with purpose. Compensation for this role is a combination of base, bonus, and incentives. The applicable total compensation range for this full-time role is $104,000 - $130,000, dependent on performance and geographic region. Base pay is determined by factors including location, experience, skills, knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
