Air Freight Manager - Indianapolis, IN for VetJobs (DHL Global Forwarding).

This role is on-site at the stated location and targets professionals with experience in life science and healthcare temp-controlled air shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day air freight operations for life science and healthcare shipments, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for temperature-controlled shipments.
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively address issues that may arise during transit.
  • Compliance And Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., IATA, FDA) for life science and healthcare products; conduct audits and inspections to maintain quality standards; collaborate with QA teams to maintain temperature monitoring protocols.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, providing training and support to enhance skills and performance; foster a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with clients, carriers, and regulatory agencies; act as the primary contact for customers regarding air freight operations; collaborate with sales and business development to support customer needs and growth in life science and healthcare sectors.
  • Data Analysis And Reporting: Analyze shipment data to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities; prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, compliance metrics, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in air freight logistics, with a focus on life science and healthcare temp-controlled shipments.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices for handling temperature-sensitive products.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Certification from a recognized logistics or supply chain organization (e.g., APICS, CLTD) preferred.
  • Experience with cold chain logistics and temperature monitoring technologies (preferred).
  • Familiarity with international shipping regulations and documentation (preferred).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $84,675.00 - $112,900.00 (Based on Experience).
