Indiana University Health, the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Indiana, is seeking a Nocturnist/Hospitalist. This position will provide coverage at IU Health hospitals in the Indianapolis Metro region, including Methodist, University, North, Fishers, and West. The successful candidate will practice in a team-oriented, supportive, and collaborative environment. We are seeking physicians looking for a 1-2 year transition to fellowship specialty and/or experienced hospitalists with a desire for new environments. This position offers all the benefits and excitement of travel with the advantage of being local and close to family and friends without significant time away from home.

The position is dually employed by IU Health Physicians and IU School of Medicine with a comprehensive benefit package.

This position is not eligible for applicants seeking a J1 visa waiver.

  • Schedules are provided months in advance, with one location per week on.
  • Key responsibilities include: admitting patients to inpatient or appropriate levels of care; performing or supervising patient care services such as history and physical examinations, diagnosis, daily patient evaluations, progress notes, discharge evaluations and summaries, managing transfer calls from outside hospitals and referrals, and medically managing adolescent and adult patients.
  • Support hospitalist APPs as needed for questions and unstable patients.
  • No procedures are required; open and closed ICU depending on the hospital.
  • Dual-employment with IUSM, offering opportunities to experience both academic and community (suburban) environments.
  • Faculty position involving teaching students and Internal Medicine residents.
  • Medical co-management with multiple surgical services including PVS, CVS, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Urology, etc.

Qualifications

(Family medicine ineligible due to IUSM Internal Medicine residency program affiliation and training)

  • Residency training in Internal Medicine
  • Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Physician licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure in Indiana
