Overview

Introduction Located in New Britain, CT, is a constituent unit of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities. We are accepting applications from candidates who meet the qualifications for one (1) position. This position will provide clerical support and assistance in the operation process of the Office of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions. This posting will also be used to fill future openings throughout various departments on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of general clerical duties (typing, data entry, filing, correspondence, report writing, processing, and related tasks).
  • Maintains calendars, initiates recurring work, and handles administrative projects.
  • Provide information and referral services, respond to inquiries, and apply agency policies and procedures.
  • Operate office equipment and use office suite software; manage materials flow and document processing; assist with purchasing and invoicing; maintain files and inventories.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Knowledge of office systems and procedures including proper telephone usage and filing.
  • Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; basic arithmetic computations.
  • Ability to perform a full range of clerical tasks and read/interpret instructions; operate computers, tablets and other electronic equipment; schedule and prioritize workflow.

Minimum qualifications – general experience

Two (2) years of general clerical work experience.

Substitutions

College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working in Higher Education
  • Experience handling confidential and/or financial information
  • Experience working in a customer services-based office environment

Special requirements

Persons having responsibility for supervising or observing the behavior of inmates or custodial individuals will be required to possess a high school diploma or GED by the time of permanent appointment.
