The City of Hampton's Criminal Justice Agency is seeking a highly organized and dependable Office Assistant Senior to join our team. In this role, you will perform a wide range of clerical, administrative, and technical duties that support the daily operations of the criminal justice division. From managing sensitive documentation and coordinating case-related communications to maintaining accurate records and assisting with complex administrative tasks, your work will contribute to the integrity and efficiency of our justice processes. Working under general supervision, you’ll follow established procedures and may serve as a lead worker.

Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of clerical, administrative, and technical duties to support the criminal justice division.
- Manage sensitive documentation and coordinate case-related communications.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with complex administrative tasks.
- Follow established procedures and may serve as a lead worker under supervision.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduation from high school or successful completion of the GED.
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of clerical or administrative experience.
- Ability to efficiently use a computer and other office equipment; knowledge of office terminology, procedures, and equipment; working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; understanding of business arithmetic and English.
- Ability to learn complex computer programs; maintain records and attention to detail; follow complex oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations.
- Effective oral and written communication and customer service skills.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record based on City criteria (if required).
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of all information; make sound independent judgments within department and City policies.
- Communicate with other City departments, the general public, and other agencies.
- May be considered essential personnel during City emergency situations, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
This position is contingent upon the availability of grant funding, and employment continuation is subject to renewal or extension of the grant.
