About the Role
Under direct supervision of a physician, performs a variety of clinical and clerical responsibilities to assist care providers in examination and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Enters pertinent information in patient chart, and performs related clerical tasks.
- Maintains familiarity with various types of medical insurance to explain these plans.
- Obtains pre-certification as required by patients’ health care insurers or managed care providers.
- Types routine correspondence, forms, reports.
- Maintains physician’s calendar, schedules appointments and meeting rooms.
- Performs clinical duties such as assisting physicians with exams and minor surgeries, preparing treatment room, ensuring instruments and supplies are present, sterilizing and cleaning instruments, maintaining clean and hygienic environment, etc. Performs routine tests including phlebotomy, preparation of cultures, preparation of specimens, preparation of urine for urinalysis, gram stains, hemoglobin, etc.
Qualifications
- Education: HS Diploma/GED preferred
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in both front and back office
- Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR required
Requires travel to satellite offices in Glen Burnie, Frederick and Westminster.
