Overview
The Restaurant Server is responsible for providing guests with high-quality service in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner. Responsibilities include receiving and delivering orders and collecting payments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain attentiveness, friendliness, helpfulness, and courtesy to all guests, managers, and colleagues.
- Be familiar with the organization of the restaurant, lounges, and room service, and understand each role.
- Have thorough knowledge of menus and specials.
- Serve food and beverages attentively and courteously.
- Pre-bus tables and remove soiled dishes after each course.
- Operate the POS system effectively.
- Handle cashiering duties, including closing checks and preparing shift reports.
- Perform opening and closing procedures and side-work as per station rotation and checklists.
- Keep tables and side stands stocked, tidy, and clean.
- Maintain beverage levels at least ¾ full.
- Break down trays of dishes and linens in the dishroom.
- Answer phones professionally.
- Upsell food, beverages, and promotions to guests.
- Know fire extinguisher locations and usage.
- Deliver food and drinks and process payments.
- Ensure guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred; hotel or related experience advantageous.
- Flexible schedule; ability to work long hours.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and carry full trays.
- Ability to stand throughout the shift and maneuver in the dining area.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain high standards of appearance and grooming.
- Adhere to hotel standards and regulations for safety and efficiency.
- Show initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a friendly, warm demeanor.
