Overview
Dock Worker role at Salvation Army ARC. Base pay range provided below; actual pay is based on skills and experience.
Base pay range
$14.00/hr - $14.00/hr
Responsibilities
- Sort and process items donated to The Salvation Army Store and operate the cash register as needed when the manager is not available.
- Make sure all shelves and clothing racks are full and organized to promote sales.
- Assist management to investigate and properly price items to be sold, as needed.
- Process merchandise efficiently and according to established standards.
- Stock racks, shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise to promote sales.
- Learn and then train on the entire processing system, including cash register.
- Maintain a clean store environment, including shelves, counters, and tables.
- Set up displays and arrange merchandise to promote sales.
- Drive store trucks for pickups of donated goods when needed.
- Wrap and bag merchandise for customers.
- Provide good customer service by being polite, prompt, and courteous in line with The Salvation Army's mission.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED. Retail and/or cash register experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Basic computer skills with ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
- Good communication skills (written and spoken) and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong independent judgment.
- Must pass all applicable background checks.

Working Conditions
The work environment is in a retail setting and may include occasional exposure to outside weather. The noise level is usually moderate.
