Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing general administrative assistance, production assistance, and additional stage management under the supervision of the Spivey Hall Production Manager. This includes on-site production management of Spivey Hall events, technical work on sound and lighting, supervision of production assistants, and/or local ground transportation for guest artists, as well as backstage hospitality services. This position also represents Clayton State, Spivey Hall, and the Production Manager in a positive light to a wide range of people and organizations.

Responsibilities
  • 40% - Stage manage all Spivey Hall Education, Clayton State University Department of Visual and Performing Arts, other Clayton State University departments, and visiting Middle/High School events including Young People's Concerts, Spivey Hall Honor Choir/Orchestra/Jazz Ensemble rehearsals and concerts, large-ensemble rehearsals and concerts, faculty and student rehearsals and recitals, award ceremonies, and lectures.
  • 40% - Set up, operate, and strike sound reinforcement, lighting, recording equipment, stage equipment (chairs, music stands, etc.), and keyboard instruments (pianos and pipe organ).
  • 15% - In the absence of Spivey Hall Production Manager, supervise student and non-student Production Assistants.
  • 5% - Occasionally provide ground transportation and hospitality services for visiting artists between Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, local hotels, and Spivey Hall.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Event management experience in the performing arts, with a focus on presenting concerts of classical music and jazz.
  • Experience with concert/theatre lighting, as well as sound reinforcement equipment and best practices, particularly with ETC consoles and analog live sound mixers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to represent Spivey Hall and Clayton State University successfully to a wide range of individuals and organizations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
  • Ability to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Degree in music, theatre, arts administration, or related field a plus.
  • Knowledge of classical, jazz, and/or world music is a plus.
