GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Assists the Production Control Manager in planning, managing, and coordinating the work activity within the Production Control Department. Develops and manages a team of professional staff to ensure results in inventory control, production procurement, supplier performance, customer delivery performance, and new product launch initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Responsible for inventory control activities. Sets inventory targets, tracks inventory, and reports results. Understands MRP process and BPCS system. Maintains cycle counting program. Identifies, reviews, and reports obsolescence. Monitors Shipping/Receiving activities. Oversees the scheduling and procurement functions. Ensures schedules meet customer requirements. Oversees efforts to procure components that meet productions requirements while maintaining inventory targets. Monitors supplier performance. Tracks supplier delivery; resolves issues related to poor performance. Monitors ADSMO customer delivery ratings. Performs root cause analysis and develops countermeasures as appropriate. Supports new product launch initiatives. Serves as the primary PC representative in NPLT meetings applicable to assigned area. Tracks key customer due dates, communicates details to team, and resolves issues as needed. Actively participates in continuous improvement and 5S activities. Supervisory Responsibility Supervises Production Control Specialist(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; 8-10 years related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulation. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) certification preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Previous experience in a global automotive manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of, and experience working with, computerized operations including MRP systems , EDI Technology and BPCS is preferred. Must be highly proficient in Excel. Understanding and exposure to Just In Time and/or TPS principles Must be able to function in a team environment by working with and cooperating with others. Must be able to clearly communicate in both written and oral forms with others. Should be pro-actively involved in the improvement process, and promote its use within the area.

The employee must also be able to safely walk and work in areas with high traffic of Powered Industrial Trucks.
