About the role As a Production Specialist, you will oversee and manage our production processes, including assembly, quality assurance, and fulfillment of orders. You will work closely with engineering teams, leveraging various production techniques to ensure seamless operations. Your role will also encompass managing the production schedule, order fulfillment, inventory, and supplier relationships. This position reports directly to the CTO and requires full-time presence at our Boston, MA office, five days a week. What you'll do Assembly and Repair: Build and test production systems and sub-assemblies with a focus on repeatable, high-quality assembly processes. Troubleshoot and repair production units to ensure they meet performance and quality standards. Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop and manage production schedules to meet project deadlines and customer demands. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the engineering team to ensure seamless production processes. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to keep them informed of production status and any issues. Interface with vendors and external manufacturers to ensure delivery timelines and part quality. Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure products meet high-quality standards. Conduct inspections and tests to identify and resolve quality issues. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Address and resolve production issues promptly to minimize downtime. Analyze production data to identify trends and implement corrective actions. Use tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or multimeters to troubleshoot PCBs and embedded systems. Production Floor Management: Ensure the production floor is well-maintained and organized, including the upkeep of 3D printers and tools. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels, coordinate with suppliers, and manage incoming and outgoing shipments. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs, using lean principles. Provide real-time feedback to design teams to ensure assemblies are production-friendly and serviceable. Customer Support: Provide technical support to customers by diagnosing and repairing hardware issues. Collaborate with the team on customer concerns related to production. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain records of production activities, schedules, inventory, and quality control. Prepare reports for senior management. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations. Conduct safety audits and training. Who you are Autonomous and self-driven, with 5+ years of experience in hardware assembly and repair. Familiar with production planning, inventory systems, and CAD/PCB tools like SolidWorks and Fusion 360. Thrives in a fast-paced, delivery-driven environment. Organized and detail-oriented. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Experience with 3D printing. Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles. Advanced soldering and troubleshooting skills for electronic components. Experience with PLM, MRP, and ERP software. Proficiency in C/C++, React/Node, and Python. Experience building and flying drones. Experience with microelectronics and embedded programming (e.g., Arduinos, STM32). Experience with electronic design and assembly.
