Recruiting and HR Specialist

Location: Syosset, NY (with travel to multiple store locations in Nassau County, NYC, and Brooklyn)

Job Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (occasional evenings/weekends as needed)

Salary Range: $72,500 – $78,000 annually

Benefits: Full range of benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement plan.

Travel: Approximately 25% to store locations.

The Opportunity

Join a growing, multi-location retail business where you’ll play a critical role in attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent—while also shaping a positive, engaging workplace culture. This is a hands-on role for a Recruiting and HR Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys balancing recruitment with broader HR responsibilities. This position requires approximately 25% travel to 11 UPS franchise store locations and a newly opened spa location across Nassau County, NYC, and Brooklyn to support recruitment and employee relations efforts.

Position Summary

As the Recruiting and HR Specialist, you will lead the recruitment process for hourly and part-time employees across multiple store locations, from sourcing and screening to onboarding and retention. In addition, you’ll handle general HR duties, including employee relations, benefits administration, payroll support, and compliance. You’ll be a key driver of culture initiatives that make our company a great place to work.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding (60% of role):

- Source candidates through job boards, Hireology, networking, social media, career fairs, and referrals.

- Review applications and match candidates to job requirements.

- Conduct pre-screen interviews and coordinate reference/background checks.

- Facilitate onboarding and orientation in collaboration with Operations and Store Managers.

- Develop and implement recruiting strategies to ensure staffing needs are met efficiently.

General HR (40% of role):

- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.

- Support payroll preparation and HRIS recordkeeping.

- Administer benefits and address employee relations concerns.

- Conduct exit interviews and update HR documentation.

- Lead engagement and retention initiatives to strengthen workplace culture.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of direct recruiting and HR experience, strongly preferred in a retail environment.
  • Skilled in HRIS and ATS systems with strong knowledge of HR compliance and recruitment best practices.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel approximately 25% to store locations across Nassau County, NYC, and Brooklyn.

Work Environment:

Business casual attire; sturdy footwear required when visiting stores. Headquarters is located in Syosset, NY, with regular travel to stores in Nassau County, NYC, and Brooklyn.
