Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer your primary responsibility will be to take ownership of one or more product lines and manage that product line’s manufacturing process from beginning to end. Taking a hands-on approach, a successful Manufacturing Process Engineer will monitor production and testing, assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement efforts throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Support customers’ technical requirements from program infancy through First Article Inspections
  • Develop and maintain work instructions and manufacturing processes for various metal products
  • Evaluate products’ material properties to ensure adherence to strict specifications
  • Optimize processing capabilities through use of continuous improvement principles
  • Model and optimize material process flow through production to improve on time delivery
  • Contribute to the research, design and selection of tooling, fixturing and gauging to be used in the manufacturing process
  • Oversee equipment modifications, upgrades and automation
  • Help to lead a Zero Injury Culture through actions and developing safe job procedures
  • Authority to perform all tasks/activities responsible for

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in engineering in the manufacturing industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering
  • Highly proficient working with 3D CAD (Solidworks). 2D CAD (Cadra) an asset
  • Experience with metal forming (ex., spinforming, cold working) preferred.
  • Understanding of machine shop equipment and machinery

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of metals and materials
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC machining (turning, milling, steady rests) and heat treatment
  • Familiar with non-destructive testing (Magnetic Particle, Pressure Testing, Dye Penetrant) and Mechanical Testing (Tensile, Hardness, Grain Size)
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Experience working in an AS9100 environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask with a high attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
